Two men have been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Antoine Lavale Parker last fall, according to detectives.
The suspects have been identified as 65-year-old Erick Darryl West, of Gaithersburg, and 45-year-old Daryl James Howard, who was previously arrested on unrelated charges in Carroll County.
Parker was found suffering from gunshot wounds inside his apartment in the 400 block of Christopher Avenue in Gaithersburg around 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, according to police.
Despite the best efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
For months, detectives worked to track down those responsible for Parker’s death, and their investigation led them to Howard and West, who were each charged in the past week.
Investigators first honed in on Howard after executing a search warrant at his home on Dec. 20, 2024, which led to weapon-related charges.
As the case developed, police obtained a warrant for his arrest on Wednesday, Feb. 26, charging him with first-degree murder.
He is currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center on unrelated charges.
Days earlier, on Feb. 24, police secured an arrest warrant for West, also charging him with first-degree murder.
Two days later, police executed a search warrant at his home and took him into custody without incident. He is now being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit without bond.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive or how Parker and the suspects were connected.
